A retail version was released in December 2016, and the first season of the game (excluding the expanded episodes) was released on Netflix at the end of 2018. However, due to the closure of Telltale Games, the game was ultimately discontinued on June 25, 2019, and its release on Netflix was removed on December 5, 2022.

Minecraft: Story Mode is an episodic interactive comedy-drama point-and-click graphic adventure video game. Like other Telltale Games, it was released in several episodes.
